ISMA Advocacy Bootcamp registration closes TOMORROW


LAST CHANCE!  

Now is the time to reserve your spot to participate in the next ISMA Advocacy Bootcamp! The deadline for registration is TOMORROW, June 30.  

This is an opportunity for ALL ISMA members looking to grow their advocacy and leadership skills. The program will run from July through November 2023 and consist of Zoom and in-person sessions led by ISMA’s Government Relations (GR) team and other subject-matter experts. There will be three one-hour Zoom sessions (July, August, October) and two in-person sessions (September, November). If you cannot attend one of the live sessions due to a schedule conflict, ISMA staff will work with you to make it up.  

ISMA aims to foster and sustain physician advocacy champions who become effective and active health policy advocates. The program, which costs $300, is open to all ISMA members, and 25 registrants will be accepted. Participants can earn up to 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Physician Advocacy Recruit Orientation  
Presenter: ISMA GR team

  • Understand how policy is made in Indiana.
  • Explain the anatomy of the federal and state legislatures.
  • Describe how to track bills.
  • Know how physicians can participate in the process.
  • Navigating the Indiana General Assembly website. 

Friday, Aug. 18, 12 – 1 p.m. ET, via Zoom
Physician Advocacy Basic Training  
Presenter:  ISMA GR team

  • Understand the framework of policy analysis.
  • Describe the aspects of strategy when lobbying.
  • Understand how to set the narrative.
  • Recognize advocacy channels.

Physician Advocacy Operational Readiness
Presenter:  Pete Friedmann, Friedmann Communications, Inc.

  • Know how to prepare for meetings with policymakers.
  • Describe best practices in meetings with policymakers.
  • Role-play a practice meeting.
  • Evaluation and execution of appropriate follow-up to meetings with policymakers.
