Two new speakers have been added to the 2025 ISMA Women in Medicine Retreat schedule!
The retreat will be held on Feb. 1 at Hotel Carmichael in Carmel, and registration is open now. During this year’s all-day event, attendees will engage in wellness sessions focused on emotional processing, enhancing self-awareness, and creating a purposeful life, among other important subjects.
This year's keynote speaker is
Arpita Gupta DePalma, MD, a trauma-informed certified mindset coach and pediatrician. Dr. DePalma, CEO of Thought Work, MD, specializes in helping clients with anger management, time management, perfectionism and self-worth issues, parenting and cultural disparities, business development, and any other area clients want to address in their lives. She is host of the podcast “Doctors Living Deliberately,” where she shares tools to help physicians live intentionally while remembering their "why."
Additional speakers recently added to the lineup include
Emily Zarse, MD, a psychiatrist in charge of Community Health Network’s Addiction Medicine Fellowship program, and
Suzanne Courtney, Psy.D, a psychologist in private practice who also teaches at Hillebrand Center for Compassionate Care Science in Medicine. Dr. Zarse’s presentation is titled “Identity Development in Women & Professional Identity Formation in Medicine,” and Courtney will present “The Role of Vulnerability in Creating Safe Clinical Practice.”
Attending the retreat costs $250 for ISMA physician members, $100 for residents and medical student ISMA members, and $350 for physician nonmembers. Attendees will receive a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
WIM Retreat attendees can take advantage of a
special room rate at Hotel Carmichael, which will be available until Jan. 10.
New for 2025, physicians can contribute funds to offset the cost of student participation for the retreat. These funds will help cover registration and meals for a medical student. If you desire to contribute, please select one of the additional options during the registration process.
Last year’s WIM Retreat saw
a record turnout, with more than 60 female ISMA physicians and medical students attending the event in Indianapolis. Let’s break that record again in 2025!
