AMA offers summary, analysis of 2023 physician fee schedule final rule
The AMA has released its summary and an impact analysis of the proposed 2023 Medicare physician fee schedule final rule, unveiled Nov. 2 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The proposed rule reduces the 2023 Medicare conversion factor (CF) by $1.55, or 4.5%, from the 2022 CF of $34.61. The decrease in physician reimbursement is largely the result of an expiring 3% increase funded by Congress through 2022; the remainder is the result of budget neutrality requirements that stem from revised E/M changes. ISMA has joined the AMA and other medical societies in asking Congress to avert this payment cut.
