The proposed CY 2023 Medicare physician fee schedule final rule, released Nov. 2, reduces the 2023 Medicare conversion factor (CF) by $1.55, or 4.5%, from the 2022 CF of $34.61, the AMA informed ISMA and other state medical societies in an email Tuesday.
The AMA said the decrease is largely a result of an expiring 3% increase funded by Congress through 2022, and that the remainder is the result of budget neutrality requirements that stem from revised E/M changes. ISMA has joined the AMA and other medical societies in
asking Congress to avert this payment cut.
The AMA said its staff was reviewing the final physician fee schedule rule and would share a detailed summary and analysis with medical societies shortly.
