Tomorrow is the final day to take advantage of a special room rate for the 2025 Women in Medicine Retreat!
The retreat is on Feb. 1 at Hotel Carmichael in Carmel, and attendees can
book a discounted room at the venue
through Jan. 10. Hotel Carmichael, an Autograph Collection Hotel, is an architectural masterpiece inspired in part by the work of 18th-century architect Robert Adam. The venue delivers a distinguished hospitality experience, offering dining, refined meeting spaces, and thoughtful details like daily live music.
During the all-day retreat, attendees will engage in wellness sessions focused on emotional processing, enhancing self-awareness, and creating a purposeful life, among other important subjects.
Erica Howe, MD, a hospitalist, nationally recognized speaker, and founder of the Women Physicians Conference, will lead the morning session with “Negotiation 101: Moving out of Your Emotional Basement.” Carmel internal medicine physician
Laurel Fick, MD, will follow in the afternoon with “Choosing Your Own Adventure.”
Additional speakers include
Emily Zarse, MD, a psychiatrist in charge of Community Health Network’s Addiction Medicine Fellowship program, and
Suzanne Courtney, PsyD, a psychologist in private practice who also teaches at Hillebrand Center for Compassionate Care Science in Medicine. Dr. Zarse’s presentation is titled “Identity Development in Women & Professional Identity Formation in Medicine,” and Courtney will present “The Role of Vulnerability in Creating Safe Clinical Practice.”
Attending the retreat costs $250 for ISMA physician members, $100 for residents and medical student ISMA members, and $350 for physician nonmembers. Attendees will receive a maximum of 5
AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. The event’s
