The 175th ISMA Annual Convention was held from Sept. 6-8 at the Embassy Suites in Plainfield. The centerpiece of Convention was the annual meeting of the ISMA House of Delegates, where representatives from around the state elected officers and debated and voted on resolutions. Adopted resolutions become part of ISMA policy and set the organization’s legislative agenda. Of the 59 new resolutions offered at this year’s convention, 41 were either approved as introduced or adopted with amendments.
The new ISMA officers for 2024-25 include:
Dr. Vidic was elected an AMA Delegate to serve the 15 months remaining in the term of David Welsh, MD, whose seat became vacant with Dr. Welsh's election to the AMA Board of Trustees. Dr. Darroca was elected to replace Dr. Vidic as AMA Alternate Delegate, and will complete the final year of his term. Drs. Sharp and Kora will both serve two-year terms as AMA Delegates, and Drs. Perry and Hatcher will serve two-year terms as AMA Alternate Delegates. AMA Delegates William Mohr, MD, and Heidi M. Dunniway, MD, as well as Alternate Delegates Stacie Wenk, DO, and Deepak Azad, MD, were not up for re-election and will complete their two-year terms this year.
Convention weekend featured numerous opportunities to celebrate the association’s 175th anniversary and share fellowship with colleagues, including the IMPAC Social and President’s Night Celebration. The weekend also included the first-ever ISMA Physician Wellness Symposium. Read the Sept. 26 edition of ISMA Reports for the full convention wrap-up.
