Sam Reese, a senior at Butler University in Indianapolis, has joined the ISMA staff as a risk management intern until December. He is working with Tom Martens to expand the role of the ISMA Insurance Agency (ISMA-IA), which offers medical, dental and vision insurance to ISMA members.

Earlier this year, Reese was a risk insurance intern at Cummins, Inc., and an underwriting fleet intern at Protective Insurance, both in Indianapolis. As a preventive maintenance undergraduate assistant at Butler’s Health and Recreation Center, he pioneered a new program for preventive maintenance of machines and tracked and maintained the machines’ usability.

Reese, a native of­ Columbus, Ohio, is double-majoring in risk management and insurance along with entrepreneurship and innovation. Last year, he put his entrepreneurship training to good use as chief financial officer of CapThat, a student-run business that produced and sold Butler Bulldogs-themed bucket hats.

After graduation, Sam hopes to pursue a career in risk management and insurance and, possibly, open his own insurance company.
