AMPAC Campaign School helps build political skills
Are you a physician, physician spouse, resident or medical student interested in running for political office or working on a campaign?

If so, the AMA’s political experts could help you succeed. As of press time, spaces were still available in the AMPAC 2018 Campaign School, from Thursday, Dec. 6, through Sunday, Dec. 9, at the AMA office in Washington, D.C. The deadline to register is Friday, Sept. 21.

Running an effective campaign can be the difference between winning and losing a race. The AMPAC Campaign School is designed to teach the skills and strategic approach to be a successful political candidate or campaign volunteer. During the in-person portion of the program, participants will be assigned to campaign staff teams to run a simulated congressional campaign. They’ll implement what they’ve learned from workbook activities and videos before attending the Campaign School, along with group sessions on strategy, vote targeting, social media, advertising and more.

The cost of faculty, meals and materials (including workbooks, videos and all in-person meeting materials) will be covered by AMPAC. Participants are responsible for the registration fee ($350 for AMA and Alliance members, state medical society staff and spouses, and $1,000 for non-members), as well as airfare and discounted hotel accommodations at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.

Space for students and residents is limited to four slots, and the registration fee will be waived for successful applicants. The AMPAC Board will review and select qualified participants based on a 500-word essay.
