Registration for Physician Wellness CME Workshop closes tomorrow

Tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 2) is the last day to register for ISMA’s pre-convention Physician Wellness Workshop, “The Creative Destruction of Physician Burnout: Navigating the Post-COVID Health Care Ecosystem.” Led by Dr. Dike Drummond of TheHappyMD.com, this in-person workshop is set for 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, in Noblesville and is limited to 100 participants. Up to 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits are available.

Dr. Drummond, a Mayo-trained family practice physician and burnout survivor, also presented ISMA’s well-received physician wellness workshop in 2018. This year, he will focus on how the COVID-19 pandemic has changed medical practice and how physicians can recognize, understand and prevent burnout in themselves and others.

The four interactive sessions include:

Burnout Proof Live: Navigating the Whirlwind – Burnout, COVID-19 and Your Personal Path Forward: Learn how to recognize and prevent burnout, lower stress and build a more balanced life using insights from Dr. Drummond’s 3000+ hours of one- on-one physician coaching and training more than 40,000 doctors for over 175 organizations to date. (Spouses and significant others are invited to attend this session, which includes lunch.)

Physician Leadership Power Tools: Physicians will learn five skills to build a culture of trust, teamwork and performance on their teams.

Physician’s Guide to Navigating a Bureaucracy and Managing Your Boss: This session fills another hole in physician’s medical education – how to manage their boss and get what they need inside a bureaucracy. The tools are applicable to any large organizational setting, such as employer group, hospital, health plan or ACO.

Interactive Group Q and A: We will take time to dive deeper into any specific issues participants are struggling with, for example:
  • Burnout in training.
  • Generational differences in burnout.
  • Gender differences in burnout.
  • Bullying/violence/discrimination.
  • Physician retirement.
  • Dealing with difficult patients or leaders.
  • EMR and electronic task overload.
Discussion may include any other issues participants would like to cover; Dr. Drummond will stay as long as there are questions. If you feel one-on-one, personal coaching support is right for you, future follow-up sessions can also be arranged.

To attend, be sure to register by midnight tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 2).
