The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) reported that on July 1, 2025, the requirement that an applicant for initial controlled substance registration or renewal of an existing registration complete two hours of continuing education on the topic of opioid prescribing and opioid abuse
expired. See
Indiana Code 35-48-3-3.5.
Applicants for initial registration or renewal of registration after July 1, 2025, will not be required to provide proof of completion of opioid continuing education.
The federal
MATE Act requirement of eight hours of training (can be from any period going back in time, not just from the last 2 years) for DEA registration is still in place. CME-eligible training videos for this requirement remain available on the
ISMA onlineTM app.
