ISMA will offer a two-part webinar series on caring for refugees in Indiana. The webinars reflect ISMA Resolution 24-020, which promotes mental health initiatives for refugees.  

Part I, Refugee 101 for Medical Providers, will take place at noon EDT on Thursday, Sept. 11. It is accredited for 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Cassandra Sanborn, Director of Development and Communications at Exodus Refugee Immigration, Inc., will educate participants on who refugees are, where they come from, and key considerations for medical providers when working with them, including delivering culturally appropriate care, understanding interactions from the refugee perspective, and providing trauma-informed care.

Part II, Refugees and Mental Health, will take place at noon EDT on Thursday, Sept. 18, and is accredited for 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Erin Aquino, Bloomington Resettlement Director for Exodus Refugee Immigration, Inc., will explore the unique mental health needs of refugees and the barriers that currently limit their access to care.

Both programs are free for members and $75 for nonmembers.
