The 173rd Annual ISMA Convention (#ISMACon22) returns in person in less than one month, from Friday, Sept. 9, to Sunday, Sept. 11. Continue reading for details about our “homecoming” convention, including what’s on the schedule, how to register, and more. (All times are Eastern Standard Time.)

Hotel discount ends tomorrow 
The deadline to reserve a hotel room at the discounted rate of $159 a night is tomorrow (Friday, Aug. 19). If you still need to make reservations at the Embassy Suites in Noblesville, do so here, or by telephone at 1-800-HILTONS (445-8667). Our Group Code is ISM; or, mention the Indiana State Medical Association.

Register for convention ASAP
House of Delegates (HOD) members who have not registered for convention are strongly encouraged to sign up by Sept. 1. If you encounter difficulty in registering, please contact Vicki Riley for assistance. 

Day-by-day highlights
Friday, Sept. 9: ISMA’s 2022 Physician Wellness Workshop with Dr. Dike Drummond, “The Creative Destruction of Physician Burnout: Navigating the Post-COVID Health Care Ecosystem, runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Then, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Indiana State Health Commissioner Kristina Box, MD, will present the report of the Governor’s Commission on Public Health. The IMPAC Social is set for 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 10: The first HOD session will begin at 8 a.m. Highlights will include remarks by Gov. Eric Holcomb; AMA President Jack Resneck, Jr., MD; ISMA President Elizabeth Struble, MD; and IMPAC Board Chair Michael Hoover, MD. Then, reference committees will meet consecutively beginning at 8:30 a.m. to hear testimony on resolutions. The President’s Night reception and dinner begin at 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 11: The HOD will reconvene at 9 a.m. to vote on reference committee report recommendations. Other highlights include election of ISMA officers and AMA delegation members, the 2023 ISMA president’s speech, and installation and swearing in of newly elected officers and AMA delegation members. 

Resolution summaries posted
More than 150 members left feedback and comments on this year’s resolutions using ISMA Pulse. A summary of member activity during the resolution comment period has been posted here, and read-only comments on resolutions will remain available through the end of convention weekend. Next, reference committees will meet to review the feedback left on each resolution, in advance of additional testimony from members during convention weekend.
