Past President Alfred C. Cox, MD, dies
ISMA is mourning the death of Past President Alfred C. Cox, MD, who died June 9 at age 87. A South Bend primary care physician for 57 years, he was elected ISMA president in 1997.

Dr. Cox was a member of the AMA for over 48 years and an AMA delegate for 14 years. He was a 56-year member of the St. Joseph County Medical Society and served as its longtime secretary-treasurer. Dr. Cox chaired the Family Practice Department at Memorial Hospital in South Bend for three years and served as president, vice-president and secretary-treasurer of the hospital’s medical staff. 

He was also a life member of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
