2 emerging drug notifications issued by IDOH
The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) has been monitoring the emergence of the drugs Xylazine and N-pyrrolidino etonitazene and has compiled information for awareness.

Xylazine, an animal tranquilizer, is being mixed with illicit substances, such as heroin, fentanyl, meth and cocaine. The White House has declared fentanyl combined with Xylazine is an “emerging threat” facing the United States due to its role in the ongoing opioid crisis.

N-pyrrolidino etonitazene, known by its street names “Pyro” and “M30,” is a powerful synthetic opioid about 10 times stronger than fentanyl and 1,000 to 1,500 times stronger than morphine. This substance has been detected in a counterfeit drug product in Indiana, according to the IDOH.
