Guidance for private practitioners addresses nonessential care during COVID
The AMA has released new guidance for private practice physicians working to provide nonessential care safely during the COVID-19 pandemic and current health care staffing shortage.

The resource, Navigating the Provision of Nonessential Care During COVID,  emphasizes ways physicians and practices should protect their employees, patients and visitors while operating within the constraints of a national health care staffing crisis. The guide includes recommendations to review COVID-19 federal and state guidelines to ensure patient and staff safety and to assist in adjusting workflows to support both staff and patients.

For additional information on keeping private practices open during the COVID-19 crisis, read the AMA’s Physician Practice Guide for Keeping Your Practice Open.
