ISDH: Measles exposure watch ends Sunday
The period of possible contagion following a case of measles confirmed in Northern Indiana ends Sunday (April 21). The measles, Indiana’s sole case this year, was confirmed in Angola, in Steuben County, and health officials had asked physicians to be alert for possible secondary cases contracted while the first patient was infectious.

A list of locations and dates of potential exposure in Angola; Sturgis, Michigan.; and College Station, Texas; can be found here; secondary cases contracted by others in these locations were expected to occur from April 5 to April 21. According to 410 IAC 1-2.5, upon first suspicion, health care providers are required to report suspected cases of measles immediately to the local health department where the patient resides, without waiting for laboratory results.
