Support med students, patients by donating blood
As part of its commitment to community service, the ISMA Medical Student Society (MSS) is holding blood drives at medical school campuses around the state. ISMA members are invited to participate by making an appointment to donate in their area.

“Since COVID has forced many in-person blood drives to cancel, blood banks have been running critically short on blood products for most of the year,” said Sarah Swiezy, MSS co-community action chair. “As medical students, we understand the life-saving potential of each unit of blood collected and wanted to do our part in donating.”

Two blood drives have been held so far with Versiti Blood Center of Indiana, one at IUSM-Terre Haute and one at IUSM-Muncie. Two more are scheduled this month, on March 25 at the IUSM campus in Indianapolis and March 29 at IUSM-South Bend (information below).

The MSS is working with its campus reps to schedule blood drives at all nine IUSM campuses and at MU-COM in Indianapolis before the end of the year. More information on these events will be shared when it becomes available.
