Meet your MATE Act requirements via ISMA Online

A federal law passed in 2023 requires ALL DEA-registered practitioners to undergo a one-time, eight-hour training requirement incorporating education on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.

The Medication Access and Training Expansion (MATE) Act was included in the omnibus spending bill signed into law by President Joe Biden in December. Starting on June 27, all physicians who prescribe controlled substances must affirm that they have received the training when they register with the DEA or renew their current registration.

Hours completed before the law took effect can count toward the required eight-hour total, including Indiana’s requirement to complete two hours of training every two years.
