Trauma-informed care (TIC) provides guiding principles to effectively put kindness into action when responding to the psychosocial effects of trauma, by creating ways to deliver appropriately sensitive services to those affected by trauma and to nurture their resilience. TIC anticipates the role that trauma can play across the continuum of care—establishing integrated and/or collaborative processes to address the needs of traumatized individuals and communities proactively. In this session, Shannon Jones, MD, chief medical officer of Southwestern Behavioral Healthcare, discussed the role of TIC in modern health care.
