The ISMA has received a $50,000 grant from the American Medical Association’s Scope of Practice Partnership to assist with efforts to halt a potential push to weaken scope of practice laws in the upcoming legislative session.
This is the third time ISMA has received a SOPP grant. The first grant, in 2021, helped ISMA establish the Indiana Physician Coalition (IPC), which unites the ISMA and 13 specialty societies to work together to educate policymakers about the risks of allowing unsupervised practice of medicine by nonphysician practitioners.
This year’s grant will allow ISMA to add outside manpower to its in-house advocacy team during the General Assembly session and will help fund scope-related marketing efforts by ISMA and the IPC.
