173rd Annual ISMA Convention receives high marks from attendees
Each year delegates, officers and ISMA members attending the annual convention are asked to evaluate their experience to help staff and physician leaders find ways to improve future conventions. This year’s convention was given a top-two (excellent + good) overall rating score of 96% by attendees, compared with 75% for last year’s all-virtual convention experience.

Friday’s events, including the presentation by Indiana Department of Health Commissioner Kristina Box, MD, and the IMPAC social attended by several legislators, earned a 97% top-two score, while interactions with ISMA staff had a 99% rating of excellent or good.

Several respondents made helpful comments regarding the number of resolutions addressed (99) and ways to improve the efficiency of testimony or reference committees. These comments have been shared with the speaker of the House of Delegates, the vice-speaker, the parliamentarian, and ISMA staff.

A majority of respondents (71%) reported that they used the ISMA Pulse digital engagement platform before convention, either to review resolutions or to review and comment on them. Of those using ISMA Pulse, 98% rated it either excellent or good, and 84% stated that it should be used in the future to solicit preconvention feedback on resolutions.

Finally, respondents were asked if ISMA Pulse should be used in the future to make policy year-round. Forty-six percent replied “Yes”; 13% said “No”; and the remaining 41% were unsure.

In all, 72 convention attendees completed the online survey. ISMA staff thanks the respondents and all delegates, officers and members who used ISMA Pulse or participated in the 173rd Annual Convention this year.
