ISDH resumes plans for new electronic vital records system
The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) has resumed its work toward implementing a new, streamlined electronic vital records system in Indiana.

The system, known as EVERS, will be created in conjunction with VitalChek, a division of LexisNexis Risk Solutions and a partner of many government agencies across the country, ISDH said in a Sept. 23 email to stakeholders. ISDH’s efforts have been on hold since it parted ways with its original contractor in July.

Death reporting was to be the first module of EVERS under the original contractor, followed by the birth reporting module. ISDH had said all users of the new death reporting module, including funeral directors, medical certifiers, coroners and local health department personnel, would have to attend training in person or online before the launch date.

ISDH is asking stakeholders to check the EVERS webpage, www.in.gov/isdh/28076.htm, for further updates, FAQs, training dates, webinar links, training videos, user guides and one-page summary user guides. ISMA will also keep members informed of training dates and other information about the EVERS rollout.
