CSR renewal, opioid CME deadlines extended
A recent executive order signed by Gov. Eric Holcomb gives Indiana physicians an additional 30 days to renew their medical license and Controlled Substance Registration (CSR). Physicians also have an additional 30 days to earn the 2.0 hours of CME on opioid prescribing and abuse required to renew a CSR. The new deadline is Nov. 30, 2021.

Part 5 (a) of Executive Order 21-27 extends the statutory deadline for physicians to renew a medical license and any prescriptive authority, including a CSR. In addition, Part 5 (b) extends the deadline to renew nursing licenses and prescriptive authority held by registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses and nurse midwives to Nov. 30.

Executive Order 21-27 recognizes that COVID-19 cases have risen recently in Indiana and that many Hoosiers remain unvaccinated, placing increased demands on hospitals and health care professionals.
