Amanda Thayer from Indiana University School of Medicine has joined ISMA during the legislative session as an intern. Thayer will be digging into all things legislative committees, testimony, and health-related bills with Director of Policy and Government Affairs Doug Boyle. As a fourth-year medical student graduating in May, Thayer will be beginning a residency in general surgery in July 2026.

“I have long been interested in policy and government and have been determined to become a trusted communicator in health, medicine, and science to legislators to help make laws that keep people safe and prevent dangerous bills from harming the public,” Thayer said. 

Another intern will join the legislative team in February when Thayer finishes her experience.
