ISMA Online offers members free opioid CME, easier sign-on
Since 2018, the ISMA OnlineTM mobile app has allowed ISMA members to complete continuing medical education (CME) on opioid prescribing and abuse and other important practice areas at no charge, right from their mobile devices. Now, two years of availability for archived webinars in the 2021 Opioid Series and a single sign-on feature mean ISMA Online is even easier to use – be sure to download the latest version of ISMA Online if you haven’t opened it in the past year. If you aren’t familiar with ISMA Online, don’t wait to check out this valuable member benefit!

About the app
ISMA Online was conceived in 2017 to bring on-demand and point-of-care learning on opioid use disorder and other topics to busy physicians. A generous grant from the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation made it possible for ISMA to develop the app and to create and offer free CME on opioid prescribing and abuse. Then, in 2018, ISMA Online became an even more essential tool: A new state law required prescribers to complete 2.0 hours of CME on opioid prescribing and abuse within the previous two years in order to obtain or renew a Controlled Substances Registration (CSR).

ISMA Online’s convenience makes it an unmatched resource for busy physicians. Recordings automatically resume where the user left off on courses being completed for credit, and certificates of completion and transcripts may be downloaded directly from the app. And, our new single sign-on feature lets you access ISMA Online with your ISMA website credentials.

Although the initial grant for the app and for ISMA’s original opioid CME content has expired, new opioid content continues to be added, and ISMA members continue to have free access to the entire ISMA Online library as a benefit of membership.

2021 Opioid CME Series
A recording of each live webinar in ISMA’s 2021 Opioid CME Series is now archived on ISMA Online for a period of two years, and successful completion of the courses counts toward meeting Indiana’s CME requirement to renew a CSR in 2023. Expert presenters discuss topics such as legal requirements for Indiana opioid prescribers, how to talk with patients at risk for opioid use disorder, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and treating opioid-use disorder in different clinical and specialty settings. Although each course in the series expires after two years, new opioid content will continue to be added to the app so practitioners will have access for the biannual licensure renewal cycle.

Members and affiliated nonphysicians: ISMA members automatically have access to the entire ISMA Online library at no charge as a benefit of membership. In addition, ISMA members can share the promo code CME75OFF with nonphysicians on their teams who need to renew a CSR and direct them to www.ismanet.org/ISMAOnlineSubscription to register for just $100. They will need to sign in or create a new account, then enter the promo code at checkout and select “Apply.”

Nonmembers: With our new, two-year subscription model, nonmembers may subscribe to all ISMA Online content through Dec. 31, 2023, for a $400 fee; this makes ISMA’s $490 membership dues a terrific value for nonmember physicians (additional county medical society dues may apply).
