Program description:

Adolescent substance use remains a crucial public health and policy priority, as it has been linked to several long-term adverse outcomes, including continued substance use and dependence, mental health concerns, and other psychosocial adjustment concerns in adulthood.

Given the widespread nature of the problem and its well-established consequences, substance use has been consistently identified as a top public health priority nationally and specifically in Indiana. Evidence indicates that adolescents are particularly vulnerable to the initiation of substance use and progression to problematic use, and that adolescence is a particularly critical at-risk period for developing substance use concerns.

Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) has developed key initiatives and programs to help address both addiction and mental health care access for adolescents and adults.

In this webinar IU faculty will discuss their new:

  • Adolescent Addiction Access Program (AAA)
  • Indiana Behavioral Health Access Program for Youth (“Be Happy”)
  • Consultations for Healthcare Providers in Addiction, Mental Health, and Perinatal Psychiatry Program (CHAMP)

Speakers:

Leslie Hulvershorn, MD
Indiana University School of Medicine
