ISMA is offering a two-part webinar series on caring for refugees in Indiana.
The webinars reflect ISMA Resolution 24-020, which promotes mental health initiatives for refugees.

Program description:

This presentation will educate participants on who refugees are, where they come from, and key considerations for medical providers when working with them—such as delivering culturally appropriate care, understanding interactions from the refugee perspective, and providing trauma-informed care.

Objectives:

At the end of this live webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the demographics, backgrounds, and countries of origin of refugee populations.
  • Identify cultural factors that influence refugees’ health care needs and interactions with medical providers.
  • Apply strategies for delivering culturally appropriate and trauma-informed care to refugee patients.
