The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FFSA) has started a free, voluntary program for pregnant Medicaid patients who use opioids or are at risk for opioid use disorder (OUD). Participants will be connected to prenatal and postpartum care, other physical and mental health care, and treatment for OUD.
The goals of the Pregnancy Promise Program are “to allow pregnant Hoosiers to enter prenatal care, access opioid treatment to achieve sustained recovery and receive ongoing support and follow-up care for members and their infants,” to give them a healthy start, the FSSA announcement said.
To be eligible, participants must be Indiana residents and meet three criteria:
- Be pregnant or within 90 days of the end of pregnancy.
- Identify as using or having previously used opioids.
- Be eligible for or receiving Medicaid health coverage.
