IDOH seeks more Indiana physicians to give COVID vaccinations in offices
The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) needs you to be an advocate for COVID-19 vaccination for your patients. So far, nearly 1,800 health care providers have registered to provide vaccinations in Indiana, and IDOH would like to increase the number of locations statewide that have vaccines available for administration.

The IDOH enrollment portal is accessible to anyone wanting to enroll as a COVID vaccine provider, and IDOH has started distributing vaccine to some physician offices. Once enrolled, physicians can order COVID-19 vaccine through the state immunization registry. Depending on storage capacity, each type of vaccine is available.

There are no limitations on the type of medical practices or physician specialties that can receive and administer the vaccine. All medical practices that can administer vaccine are welcome to participate, as long as they can store the vaccine properly and can use the allotted vaccine before it expires. The IDOH webpage has detailed information on the COVID-19 vaccine, including vaccine storage, handling and transport.

Every vaccine administrator should do their best to ensure that doses are not wasted, IDOH said. Also, each dose administered must be reported to the state immunization registry within 24 hours. This can be done either through manual data entry or an electronic interface.
