ISDH issues guidance to comply with new fetal-remains law
Indiana House Enrolled Act 1337, passed in 2016, updated Indiana law regarding the disposition of remains following a miscarriage or abortion. After extensive litigation and a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision, an injunction against enforcement of certain provisions in the law was lifted on Sept. 3. These provisions are now enforceable.

To help physicians comply with the new law, the Consumer Services and Health Care Regulation Commission of the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) has provided guidance. To read the ISDH guidelines, visit www.ismanet.org/pdf/FetalRemainsGuidance.pdf
